With all the different fly by night companies on the internet today, it can be rough for you to find a business that's legit. In order to not be a victim, you need to use your diligence and fully research real, legitimate, internet business opportunities. A few of the different ways to ensure the company you are looking at is up to par are:

Address: Make sure the company has an actual address, many companies know people don't check the address so they don't bother with it, especially if there goal is just to get your money.
BBB (Better Business Bureau): It's always a good idea to check and see if the company has any bad complaints listed with the BBB.
Members: If the company your looking at passes the first 2 then ask to speak with a few members already in the company, and get there opinion.

If all three of those pass than you need to see what the company can do for you; so next check for the following:

Compensation Plan: Make sure you will be getting paid well for the time you're putting in.
Products: Find out what type of products the company has. No products in my opinion equal no future for the company.
Is there a future: You always want to ensure there is a future with the company you join, and they will still be around tomorrow.
Training and Support: Ensure the company has a back office full of training for you to access 24/7, and is being updated with new trainings on a weekly basis.

If you are looking at a specific company and it has all the above than from my experience I would say you potentially have something worth partnering up with.
