Using TweetDeck to Manage Your Twitter Account

Time:2010-01-28 23:18:34  Source:Ezinearticles  Author:Julia Kline

TweetDeck does a few cool things when all you want to do is send a tweet. You can shorten your URL's; post your Tweet to Facebook simultaneously with Twitter; or tweet a photo. TweetDeck also lets you interact with both the person who sent the tweet, as well as the tweet itself, in some cool ways that you probably didn't know about.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

To shorten your URL's, just copy and paste the link you want to shorten into the box at the top and click Shorten. To post your tweets to Facebook at the same time as Twitter, click on the Facebook button in the upper right hand corner. When you post a tweet this way, it will show you in the left hand corner that it posted to Facebook as well as Twitter. And to tweet a photo, simply click the TwitPic button and your photo is ready to tweet.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

And what if you're rambled on and your tweet is too long? Click the Tweetshrink button and it will take out all the unnecessary characters. This is especially useful if you want to retweet someone who didn't leave enough characters. Pretty cool!DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

Now what if you want to interact with the tweets and tweeples on your screen. When you mouse over someone's picture it turns into a grid of 4 clickable buttons. To reply to this tweet, click the upper lefthand corner. This puts the person's name in your update box, ready to tweet away.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

To retweet it click the lower lefthand corner. here's a bonus tip: make sure that you delete the colon that comes up after the person's name. If you don't, your tweet won't show up in their list of replies and you will have lost out on part of the whole reason for retweeting in the first place! If you want to reply to this person privately by sending a DM, click on the upper righthand corner.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

And finally if you click on the button in the lower righthand corner you get two additional menus - things you can do relative to the user; and things you can do relative to the tweet itself.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

On the User dropdown menu you'll see that you can add this user to a group. One caveat is that you have to already have created the group that you want to add this person to. You can also follow or unfollow them, or view this person's profile. You might want to read their bio, or see a few more of their tweets, or check out their website.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

The default setting is to open their profile right in TweetDeck. but if you changed the setting to open profiles in a browser window, now you'll see this person's profile as it appears in Twitter. The advantage of this is that first of all, you can explore their profile, and their followers, more fully. And secondly, if you decide that you want to track this person closely, you an automatically create a bookmark out of their name. And finally, you can open a search window for them.DSWFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com
