Why Twitter Is Awesome For Business

Why is Twitter awesome? The answer is simple. Twitter is awesome because search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo index (take notice of) every tweet (comment) you send. Do you want these search engines to take a special notice of you? Of course you do! The more search engines like you, the higher your ranking will be in the search results. This means that more people will see you and your business before they see your competition.

We know that Twitter helps us with our rankings but how exactly are we supposed to use Twitter effectively? Here is a short list of what you should consider doing when you use Twitter:

1. Tweet about four times each day. If you want to do more than four tweets that's ok.
2. Don't tweet stupid stuff like what you ate for lunch. Nobody cares about your lunch.
3. Make sure that each tweet is interesting enough to be retweeted (forwarded) by other people.
4. Include keywords near the beginning of the tweet. [Put the words you want to be associated with in the beginning of the tweet. For example, if I'm in the signage industry I would include something like car wraps or banners.]
5. Use a site that will allow you to schedule your tweets so you don't have to log back into Twitter every few hours.
6. Follow quality people/businesses every day.

Use tweetreach.com to evaluate the reach of your tweets. This allows you to see how many people viewed your tweet and how many times your tweet was seen. If this is confusing it will make more sense once you go to tweetreach.com and see how it works.

Consider looking into hootsuite.com for scheduling your tweets. You can also use this site to send messages to Facebook, LinkedIn, WordPress and some other sites.

I would recommend using twellow.com to find people who are interested in your type of business. Find these people on Twitter and then follow them. If after a while they are not following you back you can unfollow them. You want to make sure that the following/follower rate is not different by more than 10%. If the ratio is not close enough you will not be able to have more than 1000 followers. Also, don't add too many people in one day because Twitter will think you are going to be spamming people. By the way, don't SPAM people! I don't like it, Twitter doesn't like it and almost nobody else likes it!

For your tweeting content I would recommend tweeting at least four of the following each day:

1. One fact
2. One tip
3. One link to either an article or a video
4. One link to a "photo of the day"
5. One quote

This will give your followers some variety. Keep things interesting and people will be more likely to follow you and pay attention to what you have to say. Also, if you post interesting content to your website you can always invite your followers to visit you there. Increase your website traffic.
