How to Make Money With Twitter - Fast!

Hey, what you up to?

This is one of the first questions we often ask our friends and family. Whether its just making a drink or catching up on the spring-cleaning, it's interesting to us. However, you wouldn't just randomly email somebody telling them that you're making yourself a coffee - they're probably not interested.
But what about the people who want to know about your activities?

Of course, we have pagers and cell-phones, but it's far too time consuming to be sending individual messages to probably hundreds of friends on your list.

So, what if there's a way to do this in less than 30 seconds?

Well now, there is a way! It's quick and easy, and has been made available for us to use for free, so that you can share all the little things that happen in your life.

Thanks to Twitter, we can share short, 140 character messages about your day-to-day activities and follow the updates of the people you know, or have recently discovered.

It's like one big Barbecue party!

So then, what if I told you that everybody at this party could be a potential customer for your off or online business? Now don't forget, Twitter is a social networking website and so it should be treated as such.

Here's one example of how Twitter marketing could work for you-

You're at this party (Twitter) and you have a friend called 'Jack' (your Twitter follower), who may not necessarily be interested in what you have to offer, however, he knows somebody at the party (His Twitter Follower), who wants the product or services you are selling. You know nothing about Jacks friend, but as a recommendation, his friend now follows you.

So what do you do now with this new friend?

Well I'd say that the key here is to be yourself. Don't go on the hard-sale and make every Twitter post self-promotional. There's too many of those people around and quite frankly, it doesn't work at all! That's known as spam marketing and your followers will probably block you and any further updates you may have.

Do you really want to be labelled as a spam marketer?

I thought not!

People love golden nuggets and I'm sure you do too. Be as informative as you can and don't hold back on the information you give. After all, Twitter is all about sharing, so do just that! Don't forget, you only have 140 characters to play with anyway, so it's hardly going to break your back to give a daily tip, or to post a link back to a great article that you have just found... It builds trust between you and your Twitter followers - and when you gain their confidence, they will be far more open to your subtle nudges of self-promotion.
Lead them to your website and not the product. After all, we have a website to do the selling for us, so why feel the need to do so on Twitter itself?

People follow you because they are seeking good solid content. They're certainly not following you to receive hundreds of updates, telling them about the same thing you have to offer, a hundred times a day!

So go on over and socialize on Twitter, just don't be the person with a permanent business-cap. That will actually detract a lot of potential followers or customers from every returning to you again - and that's something you really don't want!
