How to Mass Unfollow For Twitter!

Twitter has done away with the mass/bulk removal, but there is a way around it. First Bookmark This Page. If you are using internet explorer you will need to bookmark this page so you can copy and paste the URL later. This method of mass/bulk removal of people you follow in twitter only works with the Mozilla Firefox web browser. If you are not using Firefox already and want to continue you will need to download and install Firefox. You can download Firefox from Mozilla.com.

Once you have Firefox installed, open Internet Explorer to this page, highlight the URL in the address bar, and copy it. Open Firefox and paste the URL in Firefox's address bar, hit enter. Now you should be on this page in Firefox. You can close Internet Explorer. If you were already using Firefox you should already be on this page.

The next thing you need to do is download the plug-in called Check All. The Check All plug-in is available for Firefox 3.0 but It does not work in Firefox 3.6. There is an experimental Check All plug-in that is an updated version of Check All for Firefox 3.6. To find the plug-in I searched Google for the phrase "check all for Firefox". You have to make sure you get the Check All 0.2.3 version. The older versions of Check All will not work with Firefox 3.6. Mozilla will warn you about the plug-in, saying it has not been verified and that it may cause damage to your computer if installed. I installed the plug-in for Firefox 3.6 and it works just fine. I suggest you give it a try. You will have to close Firefox and restart Firefox for the plug-in to work. You do not have to restart your computer, just Firefox.

Once Firefox has been restarted go to ManageFlitter: http://manageflitter.com. ManageFlitter is a online program to manage your Twitter account. Once ManageFlitter is open click on start. On the next page click on Connect To Twitter. Fill in your Twitter information and click on Allow. It takes a minute to get all the information from Twitter.

Once the information has been retrieved, ManageFlitter shows all the people that you follow that are not following you back! Now here is the good part! If you want to unfollow the people that does not follow you back, push CTRL and A on your keyboard or select Edit, Select All on the Menu Bar at the top. Yes, I know it selected everything on the page.

Ok, here is where the plug-in comes in, now move your cursor somewhere into the middle of the page and right click. In the box that pops up you will see "Check all selected check boxes". Click on Check all selected check boxes. All the check boxes should now have check marks! To the right click on Unfollow 100 Selected (or whatever number appears there). All the people you had selected should now be unfollowed. If you want to completely get rid of the names you unfollowed you can click on Clear xxx Unfollowed. When you are finished unfollowing everyone, I would suggest using the Clear Unfollowed to eliminate those names.

If ManageFlitter did not go to the next page of people, click on next to go to the next page. Repeat the above steps to remove all non-followers or however many you want. You can also selected people one at a time.

You can also use ManageFlitter in Internet Explorer, but you have to check each person one at a time. Check All does not work in Internet explorer.
