11) Form elements such as text boxes, submit buttons and drop down menus will add extra mass to your pages and slow them down.

If your Intuit/Homestead website page loads slowly, start removing some of these items that we have listed above. By implementing a process of elimination, you should be able to reduce the size of your page so it will be quicker when it is loading.

I have read that a good rule to follow is to keep the Kbs size to less than 35Kbs. The Kbs size of a page can be determined by looking in your file manager. Once you have published the page you are working on, go into the file manager and right next to the title of the page the Kbs size will be displayed. The size of the page is not reflected when you alter it and just preview the changes, you must publish the page and then look.

Google is starting to use loading speed of web pages as a factor that will affect where your website is placed in the search engine results pages.
