Who's on First? What's on Second?

How many of you out in the great internet beyond have decided to start a business with a website?? Do you get an email address first or a website?? WOW - my first adventure as a webber is my new website.

My first impression is that you just call the webmaster and out of the blue you have a website that appears on the internet and you will make a million dollars quickly. Boy, talk about wrong - their are the keywords (baby burp cloths, burp baby cloths, cloths baby burp, cloths burp baby), the links, the pictures, the "what ifs?" that will generate interest in your site. It is so overwhelming. That is a full time job alone. Then you need to write articles and put them out there with the keywords, HTML links and etc. Plus you should know about SEO - the Navy does not have as many acronyms as the internet. The language is foreign BUT if you have a webmaster such as mine the ins and outs of this job becomes clearer - no less overwhelming but clearer.

Then there is blogging - as a baby boomer, this is a new concept - of which I have not gotten my head around. You need everyone to give you their input to make the SEO of internet world feel that we are worth putting in the lead position. ---Oh, that is an altogether new aspect that you need to consider.

Starting a business on the internet is not for the faint of heart. But I would not discourage any age to try their hand at it. If you have a product that is worth the time and trouble to produce, then it is your job to make sure that it is offered to the public.

I have sewn my own clothes and now with the new business going, I feel the training that I got when I was just young growing up in the Midwest is being put to the test. If you love something, as much as I do, then you are actually doing a job you enjoy less the stress of the internet complications. Grab your book 'How to' books and read on my followers. You may have to read it a dozen times but you will eventually reap the rewards of your time and trouble as well as the satisfaction of Starting Your Own Business... In my case, the infants and toddlers of the world are waiting for me to make them something unique and affordable and I must answer the call.

Now I have 7 grandchildren and have opened a business of making handmade quilts and other baby nursery accessories. The products that I sell are based on the same principle, "will it stand the test of time."
