Which Do You Prefer? A Traditional Website Or a WordPress Website?

Just recently, we have had a coach on the New Coach Connection Yahoo group share their story of having a WordPress site built, but it took the designer a long time to get the site up and running, plus the cost was unjustified for the work that was completed. Her question to the group was what is a standard cost and did it make sense to have the site designed in WordPress or another platform? It seemed that all WordPress sites have this "bloggy" look.jEMFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

Coming from someone that has built websites in traditional software platforms such as FrontPage and now WordPress, I can share with you that it does cost more if you are building a site from the ground up. It just depends on whether you want all the "bells and whistles" to accompany your site.jEMFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

Now if it's not obvious by now, I'm a WordPress fan when it comes to blogs and static websites. The main reason why I switched to designing sites in the WordPress platform, to begin with, is to give the client full control of their site once the design piece was completed. With traditional site software, the client must have some kind of HTML editor program so that they can make their own edits. If they do not have the software, then they have to purchase it...an additional cost for their business. But with WordPress, as long as they have a browser window, then they have access to their site!jEMFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

Some of the group members also expressed concern of the limitations in WordPress when it came to design customization. This is true if you are using free themes for your blog or website. I recommend premium themes that have more customization capability or I recommend a WordPress designer that can create a custom-made theme that is open to upgrades and improvements. I will caution you that having a designer make your own theme could be a substantial increase in cost versus a ready-made premium theme that just needs some color and graphic image customization applied to it. Another bonus would be to find a designer that knows how to manipulate a theme and create additional sidebars so that you can control the kinds of content that you have on each sidebar page.jEMFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

Lastly, I want to share with you that WordPress has really made an impact in incorporating social media, video sharing, membership sites and now forum sites into their platform. That is something you will not find in a traditional website design software. I believe I want to work with a CMS system that allows for business growth in my website...my online identity.jEMFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com

And if you do not already use WordPress for your blog (and/or website), consider switching to their platform.jEMFree Articles Directory | Hostsee.com
